POTS is often thought of as a "female" disorder, which has negative implications for men who are diagnosed with POTS and other chronic invisible illnesses. Because of Western notions of masculinity, admitting weakness (even due to illness) is particularly difficult for many men and requires a different approach in treatment and support.
